White Delicious Resurrected.
About just one year after I got my first laptop/Mac, I found these random lines on the sides where my palms rest. At first I didn't think too much and hoped that they'd disappear later. Until I saw a friend taping his MacBook all over, and soon after I did exactly the same...
Almost everyone I know, who own the MacBook before the not-so-uni unibody model came out in 2009, has this cracking problem on the top cover, most likely stems from the spacing bars attached to the lid on top of the display, in addition to the magnet closure that juiced up the momentum. I was lucky enough to keep the crack along the edge... I've seen MacBooks with all these 'organs' exposed, like zombies.
Furthermore, about 6 months ago, my MacBook got pregnant -- the battery swelled like its baby (juice) would come out anytime. That was 320 charging cycles over 3 years, which I considered a rather conservative use for any laptop battery (well, there's a grad student in my lab having 15 cycles for 4 years... but I'd just get a iMac in that case).
Anyway, so today, I happened to stop by Apple Store with both my White Delicious, it happened to be early enough that nobody else was in line, and the Genius happened to be nice enough to renew both of my top cover, and the battery, for free! Yes, brand new battery. 3.5 years after first purchase. Without Applecare. It took me no more than 30 minutes from the moment I stepped into the store to see my baby in her new suite, white and shiny. They apologized and claimed that it was Apple's design flaws, so they replaced them for free. This is how they value their product quality and business ethics. This is Apple.
White. And. Delicious.
